CDATF 2025: Japanese Craftsmanship Meets China’s Buyers

SHANGHAI, China – The 118th China Daily-Use Articles Trade Fair (CDATF) concluded this July at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, welcoming 137,600+ buyer visits, 5,000+ exhibitors, and 100,000+ new products across 190,000sqm+. As Asia’s leading sourcing fair for daily-use homeware, CDATF once again proved its role as a gateway for overseas companies to engage directly with China’s fast-evolving consumer market.

 

Japanese Manufacturer Debuts at CDATF

Among the many international exhibitors, Iwatani Materials Corporation from Japan made its debut at CDATF 2025. The company presented a wide range of household and kitchen products—from microwave cookers “GOURLAB”, Japanese-designed interior products “I’m D”, and Japanese-quality plastic bags “Iwrap”—practical yet stylish items that quickly drew strong interest from visiting buyers.

We are a Japanese materials company, and this is our first time at CDATF,” said Ms. Satoko Nakajima, Senior Manager of the Home Products Division, “through this exhibition, we want more people to experience the quality and value of Japanese manufacturing.

 

Direct Buyer Engagement Creates New Value

For Iwatani, the decision to exhibit was driven by the unique advantage of direct buyer engagement. “In recent years, more and more people are paying attention to Japanese manufacturing and design. I also wanted to take this opportunity to observe the Chinese market firsthand and better understand consumer trends here,” Ms. Nakajima explained.

She added, “I came with an exploratory mindset. At first, I worried that interest might be limited. But to my surprise, buyers showed enthusiasm for nearly every product. Their feedback gave me both confidence and new ideas for the future.

She further emphasized the importance of meeting buyers who appreciate “Made in Japan” quality—products that balance functionality with everyday convenience.

Reflecting on her experience, Ms. Nakajima highlighted the remarkable speed of market response in China: “The market here reacts so quickly to new trends. The advanced networks and responsiveness are impressive and worth paying close attention to.

For Iwatani, CDATF was not just an exhibition, but an opportunity to understand Chinese consumer needs and align with one of the world’s most dynamic markets.
